I’ve had a pretty crazy number of visitors these last couple of weeks. I love it because it means I also get to explore this new city I live in. There is a lot of first times for me as well still in Los Angeles. The other day we took a drive too Malibu and we happened to drive by The Getty Villa. After scoring some tickets (without making reservations) we drove up to the hills and took in some spectacular sights before watching the sunset in some Malibu beaches.
If you are ever in Los Angeles, I would definitely recommend a trip to visit both [The Getty Center] and The Getty Villa. Stunning.

I already posted Kari’s stunning [senior portrait editorial], but I still wanted to play around with some of her images. The setting and feel of the shoot definitely gave me the vibe of some strong black and white portraits. The abandoned bridge over the dried up lake has got to be one of my new favorite locations in my hometown. Kari, is stunning.

Meet Karelia (or Kari for short). The air was crisp and cold for this awesome senior portrait session down in Arizona. Her stunning natural beauty and grace was highlighted by the glow of the crisp air and surrounding desert in the winter. Like most girls, she was super nervous at first, but soon realized that I am all about having fun.
She also realized how crazy I am when it comes to shooting. Driving along when all of the sudden I would stop and yell “HERE!” and make her pose in the middle of a dry river bed, an abandoned lake bridge or in the street with oncoming traffic.
These images were edited using the new VSCO film presets and they came out absolutely stunning.

For Christmas I treated myself to a new pair of glasses and all those close to me have given me so many compliments on them. My last pair was on its last breath after 3 years of world travel. My friend Aimee mentioned to me about a company that donates a pair of glasses to someone in need for each pair you purchase from them. Awesome.
That company is Warby Parker.
The cool thing about them is that they allow you home test 5 pairs of glasses you are interested in for free! Once you pick one (or 2) that you like, you send it back and get to order whatever pair (with prescription) that you like!

Family portraits are tough. It is even tougher when it is someone actually related to you. Its very: “What if they don’t like the pictures? They know where I LIVE!” But, I really had nothing to fear. There are a lot of perils when it comes to large family portraits, but these cool cats made it SO EASY. Viviana, Yvonne and Livier sisters) had planned the shoot as a gift to the family. As I said before, I am skeptical about shooting for family, but I love those girls and they understood that I hate boring family portraits. The best advice for family portraits…. act like a family.
You will get great shots.
