You know it’s a fantastic wedding when the ceremony is held in a voodoo garden at the House of Blues, and when all these Naval officers sing “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” to the bride.

The magic that New Orleans holds over people is incredible. And I can’t believe I had the opportunity to capture a wedding in such a fantastic city. I can’t wait to show you the rest.

{***WARNING*** – Some of the photos in the following post are very graphic and contain blood. If you are unable to handle strong images of hospital treatment I suggest that you don’t proceed.}

I’ve heard it said
that people come into our lives

for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
and we are lead to those
who help us most to grow
if we let them and we help them in return – WICKED

When Ramkala came in she instantly had all eyes on her. As soon as they pulled the blanket off her tiny body, the smell of rotting flesh overpowered the room. Three weeks. Three weeks her parents had waited to bring her to the hospital after she had burned herself at home. I can’t ever imagine waiting three weeks to treat something so serious. I can’t even imagine the pain this little girl must have felt for those three weeks.

She had maggots on her ears and her scalp was almost beyond repair…..

1 e1290451594853 Karla + Jason // Lifestyle Couple Photography Session

Before I left for New Orleans I scheduled a photoshoot with the amazing couple that is Karla and Jason. Karla contacted me and said that they take photos every year as a couple and this one was no different. They, of course, brought along the CUTEST dogs in the history of the world. We met up in Danville for the shoot and I fell in love with the area. It was my first time there and it didn’t even feel as if I was in the Bay Area at all, it actually felt as if I was in a different time zone.

It was incredible.

Just like these two. These two click like I hope all my future couples click. The were also completely natural in front of the camera, even Jason. Most guys take a while to warm up to the lens, but this guy rode along and had fun. Karla has an amazing smile, is way more fashionable than I can ever fathom and makes amazing bow-ties if you are ever interested. She also has a great blog (check it out).

Anyway, thank you Karla and Jason for letting me capture you two and for making it such a wonderful and fun shoot!

Hell e1290240051469 New Orleans Will Send Me To Hell

I want you to look at the picture closely above. If you figure out why we are doing what we are doing, then you know we are going to hell.

New Orleans is one of my favorite cities in the United States (it is also home to one of my all-time favorite restaurants). It could be because everytime I have gone to that magical city it has been in the company of amazing friends. Every trip there turns out to be more epic than the last. This one though, this one takes the take.

I had such a blast….and such a headache. The day we all flew out, I don’t think I have been that hungover in a while. Hilarious things happened the whole trip, but that will stay between us friends since this blog should be rated PG-13.

The funniest thing that happened though was when Brian and I were able to sneak into a private party at a gay bar down Bourbon Street. Turns out this party had Kelly Ripa, her husband, Andy Cohen and others just mingling.

Kelly was soooo nice. Actually everyone there was sooo nice, except for one person. This Andy Cohen person. What. A. DOUCHE. Granted we were at a party we weren’t supposed to be, but everyone else made quick friends with us. Not this guy. Maybe it was because I had no idea who he was.

The first night was insane. The second night was insane. The third night was insane. The wedding party was incredibly fun and all in the company of good friends.

New Orleans, you are so good to me. I would post up all the pictures I took, but there is just no way that is going to happen. But trust me, they are epic (thank God for the untag feature on Facebook).

See you again soon. I promise.
